Freya Arctic Jam (2025) by Djabe and Steve Hackett is an atmospheric, wide-open fusion of progressive rock, nordic world-jazz, and ambient acoustic textures, captured during their intimate performance in Bodø, Norway. Steve Hackett’s signature guitar work—ranging from delicate, nylon-string classical picking to soaring, sustain-drenched electric leads equipped with volume swells and harmonizers—integrates seamlessly into Djabe’s rich, multi-layered acoustic and electric canvas. Tamás Barabás’s fluid, highly articulation-focused basslines and Péter Kaszás’s precise, world-percussion-driven rhythm section give the performance an effortless, breathing pulse. Framed by Szilárd Banai’s delicate keyboard textures and Attila Égerházi’s acoustic rhythm guitar, the album’s soundscape is wide, crystalline, and distinctly spacious, reflecting its Arctic backdrop through lush instrumental dialogues, shimmering dynamics, and warm, audiophile-grade separation.
