Damir Urban & 4’s 2021 double album, Lipanj, Srpanj, Kolovoz (June, July, August), is an intimate, deeply emotional epic that captures one of Croatia’s most iconic alt-rock frontmen at his most vulnerable and artistically mature. Born out of the isolation and quiet reflection of the 2020 pandemic lockdowns, the album is structurally divided into two distinct halves: a lush, full-band Art-Rock/Alternative exploration with his long-time band 4, and a stark, acoustic solo cycle recorded by Urban alone in his home studio.
The band-driven disc showcases Urban & 4’s signature dynamic tension—blending heavy, driving alternative rock grooves with ambient electronic textures, sweeping string arrangements, and delicate piano melodies. Tracks like "Sama" and "Iskra" build from quiet, brooding verses into explosive, emotional climaxes, anchored by tight rhythm work and subtle synth layers.
The solo disc strips away all production polish, focusing purely on Urban’s acoustic guitar, minimalist key pads, and raw room ambience. Across both halves, Damir Urban’s singular vocal performance dominates: dramatic, poetic, and brimming with gravelly passion, shifting effortlessly from hushed spoken-word intimacy to powerful, soaring belting.
