Douö (2003) is an intimate, highly conversational acoustic jazz dialogue between French drummer-percussionist Bertrand Renaudin and guitarist Olivier Cahour. Bypassing traditional rhythm section structures, the album builds a sparse, transparent soundscape where Cahour's warm, intricate classical and steel-string guitar voicings intertwine with Renaudin’s light, coloristic, and melodic percussion work. Blending impressionistic European jazz harmony, subtle folk melodies, and delicate Latin-tinged rhythms, the recording emphasizes acoustic space and dynamic restraint—allowing every subtle brush stroke, cymbal shimmer, and fingerstyle guitar resonance to linger in a peaceful, chamber-like atmosphere.
